A Nice Surprise...

Well I had a day out with my Dad today, with no specific species in mind that I wanted to photograph, so I just snapped what ever I came across, which included one of my favourite birds the Peregrine falcon, that came swooping over head chasing an unsuspecting little Ruff stunning it into a nearby dyke that luckily surviving the terrifying experience with nothing but bad memories and I also managed capture not quite my favourite butterfly but a stunning one none the less in the form of a Brimstone,

I hope that you like them...

Peregrine Falcon
After looking at these photos, I noticed that this particular bird is ringed with a red ring on its right leg and what looks like a gold ring on its left leg, I don't no if this will have been ringed locally or somewhere else but if anyone has any info. I would love to know
Anyway I hope that you enjoy the blog,
thanks always Lee Harrison

Bad Day for Photography...

Well I recently spent some time out trying to photograph Red Deer at a relatively local spot but unfortunately the weather has been well rubbish, not bad for a walk out but pants for taking any pictures. So today I decided to take some shots and hope for the best so don't expect anything special.

I'm going to start off with this pic of a Roe Deer that I snapped up at Brockholes Quarry a few weeks back...

Well that's probably the best pic that you'll see today so now to the Reds...

Well last but not least, my personal favourite with the tongue hanging out...

Right well thats you lot for today... I hope that you like them,

Thanks always Lee Harrison.

Green as the Grass...

Well I had an hour down one of my local patches, just wondering along the River Yarrow with the sun setting and the gentle trickling of the river, you won't get a more relaxing place. I sat down next to a slightly deeper pool were the odd fish started to rise, snatching unsuspecting insects off the surface, creating hypnotic rings which disperse into infinity....It was bliss....
This was before I went on the hunt for the most elusive, well camouflaged of insects, the Grasshopper, I never realised how have it was to find something green in a green field. You always see them when you go out walking, but the moment you look...Vanished. Eventually I managed to find to in a small area so I hope that you like the pictures:-

Common Field Grasshopper

Well not many photos tonight but not much time. Thanksyou for stopping by,

Thanks always Lee Harrison.

Give It Up For tha Beetles...

Well, this year I have tried to take a particular interest in the smaller thing in life from the most beautiful Butterfly to the "ugliest" bug. So over the last week I have been keeping an eye out for beetles that are scuttling around and have mannages to come up with a few different species so I hope that you like them:-

Investigator Beetle

Green Shield Beetle

Forest Bug

Well I hope that you enjoyed it ,

Thanks Always Lee Harrison.

Have You Ever Seen A Dinosaur... I Have...

Well I had a little bit of time to spare in between the football today, so I decided to pop out to try and photograph something that I have never tried before in the form of Dragon Flies, even though slightly weird looking, they are such a beautiful and an amazing insect once you manage to get close to them and just to think that these creatures were around when the dinosaurs were here, it's like see the past come to life, it upsets me when people have such little respect for them, your looking at what essentially is a dinosaur, if that doesn't amaze you then there's something wrong...

I hope that you like them:-

Common Darter

Red Darter

I hope you enjoyed it,

Thanks always Lee Harrison.

Evening Gulls...

I decided to head over to Ainsdale beach tonight in hope of photographing a number of gulls, inparticular the Common Gull that doesn't really live up to its name but as you can see, the evening sun was that beautiful I took advantage of some of the others around on the beach,

I hope that you like them:-

Anyway thanks for visiting I hope that you like what you see,

Thanks always Lee Harrison.

The Scotch Argus...

Well... eventually a plan that actually worked, I have been on so many adventures this year that come to no avail but not this one. I decided to have a day trip up Arnside in search of the elusive Scotch Argus, as I recently found out that one of the very few colonies in Britain is up there, as we set off the sun was shining and everything was coming to life, foot to the floor we bombed up the motorway for an hour before arriving to a fine drizzle but we didn't let this get us down, we soldiered on with my presumably damp quarry in mind. we eventually arrived at the spot that I had been directed to and the drizzle persisted, we sat there having a quick snack for about 20 minuets when eventually the rain stopped and it brightened up, within 20 seconds a dark butterfly flapped across the bottom of a near slope and there it was a beautiful Scotch Argus. As I watched and photographed this one I became aware or 1...2...3...4...5...6...7... loads of others hiding in the undergrowth, with one particular one catching my attention as it was stuck under a low bramble leaf once I had got it out I think it became grateful and took a shine to us both as you'll see in the pics below...
Anyway I hope that you like them:-

Last but not least, this experimental picture
from below the butterfly, a
weird shot...
Anyway I hope that you like these,
Thanks always Lee Harrison, I will leave you with 2 pics of a Spotted Redshank that I stopped off to see a Leighton Moss whilst I was in the area...
hope you visit again soon, Thanks Lee Harrison.

I Will Always Pause At A Comma...

I recently spent some time up around Heysham and Silverdale in hope of connecting with a number of different butterflies, mainly the Comma as I had never seen one before but much to my delight I found a couple feeding on a large Buddleia and they were amazing, I hope to meet them again some time, I was also hoping that I might be able to find a Brown Argus as I had been given directions to a reliable spot, I think I saw one and I got a photo but I'm not one hundred percent sure so it gives me and excuse to go back.
As I wasn't sure about my Brown Argus, I decided to take advantage of a couple of Peacocks that showed them selves off, I hoped that you liked them:-

Short but sweet...I hope, I also hoped that you liked it, tomorrow I am off in hope of seen the Scotch Argus and to hopefully find a Brown Argus that doesn't fill me with doubt...

Thanks always Lee Harrison.
