It's That Time Of Year...Spring Part 1...

Spring has sprung and the grass had rise I know where the business is.... Everywhere!!! I can't seem to get away from it this time of year, Fighting, Flirting, Feeding and that’s just in my way through town but on a serious note this is just an amazing time of year to be out and about watching the birds and the babies, I just love finding a nest then sitting back in the undergrowth watching the adult birds come and go and tracking the progress and weighting for them to fledge, up to date I have never managed to see a set of chicks fledge, slightly disheartening but as long as a see chick the day before and find and empty untampered nest, it keeps me very happy, recently I have been watching 7 - 8 nest with two fledging in the last week...

I haven’t had anytime recently to keep up to date with my blogs or even spend to much time out and about, due to this I have been spending a lot more time around my local area within ten minuets or less of my house and I have rediscover my love of my local area that I sometimes take for advantage...

Since my last blog I have been working on a series of photographs that I like to think catches the Essence of early spring, I hope that you like the results















This is my favourite shot that I have taken over the last few week, I took this whilst watching this Woodpigeon collecting twigs and building a nest at Marshide...

It's time for something new...

Well once again, it's been a long time, due to university and work but this has given me the chance to do a bit of thinking and I have decided that my blog need a bit a refresh, so out of the many pictures that I have got to upload, this is just a small practise sample, I hope that you like it, please feel free to leave any comments and for anyone who has struggled leaving comments due to the word verification, I have recently removed it...

Happy Christmas....

Well first of all I would like to say a massive happy Christmas to all the views of this blog and I truly hope that you have had a wonderful time but it's not over yet, with the new year approaching a frightening speed many good times, feasts and beverages are yet to be had.

I have managed to get out a few times over the Christmas period, what with all the university work handed in and work finished for a short while I made a break for but unfortunately with all the other activities that happen at this time of year I've not had chance to update so there should be three blogs posed in quick succession if all goes well.

he first place that I ventured to was the remote wilderness of the Mere... Martin Mere that is, I want feeling to adventurous; generally it was quite quiet with the usually few million Pinkies, masses of Pintale and a few hundred Whoopers with all the other bits and bobs that you'd expect but this gave me a chance to settle down and take a few shots, I hope that you like them:-

"I thought this was a very interesting photograph, it shows the comparison between the old and the new bird, the older bird to the left will have been on the lake for at least a week and is very clean, although the newer bird to the right still has the peat stained plumage from the lakes of there summering grounds, (after a shot time this will get washed off in our clearer water but this is a good way to tell when they came in)"

Experimental.....

I had a few hours over at Marshide today, such a fabulous day, butterflies everywhere, White throats sings and newly hatch chicks all over the place, in front of Sandgroungers, there was a family of baby Shellduck, soon after a very Young Pipit appeared, and Mallard ducklings came into sight, such a cute start to the morning. soon after, a Redshank came and landed close to the hide so I decided to try and experiment with some video to see how it would turn out.

I like to think not bad for my first ever attempt...

Appart from these there was nothing around, a few Black Headed gulls but thats was it so I heade down to nells hide, the water was low and birds were every where, such a nice sight to be welcomed by, as a scanned around, all the usuals were present and 2 Curlew Sandpipers which were very nice to see as one was almost in hull summer plumage, apart from these 2 beauties, there wasn't much around, Dunlin mouching around, Ring Plover making a rachet and all the others that you might expect...

As I was watching everything takeplace, I started to take a few shots of the shellducks dotted around, when I saw one stray to close to an Avocets nest and a small battle took place...

In this pic it looks like the avocet lost but trust me the shellduck soon left...

I didn't have much time tonight, so I just headed to a local lodge with my other half, I was very quite around really just the usual Tit and Finches flitting around but I still managed to get a few pics. on the way around:-
