Dinner Time Project...

Well... With the weather been nice for the past couple of weeks, I have decided to do a dinner time project, rather then sitting in the canteen or sitting at home, I've been going for a walk around around my local lodge waiting for photo opportunities to arise, and I like to think that they did and I took them, I hope that you think the same...

Bit to cold for comfort...

Well I headed out this weekend as I had no work to do, Friday I shot over to Marshside, in hope of seeing the Bitten that has taken up residence for the last week but I lasted about 15 min. scanning over Crossens before I gave into the cold and headed inland, silly me forgot my hat and gloves, thought I was getting frost bite although this little male Stonechat did make me feel a bit warmer for about a second...

Firstly I headed over to Mere Sands Wood, where I got the opportunity photograph a few our smaller birds and winter visitors, I hope that you like them...

Lastly but definitely not least this little beauty brightened up the day, it so nice seeing these Mandarin Ducks turning up in unexpected places.

As I got home I decided to head down to my local Common Bank lodge where I have been watching number the number of Goosander increase over the past week form a single pair to 28 birds, I found this very strange as I have never seen Goosander on this lake or any other in town lake before, many times on the larger water around Rivington but never here, a very nice surprise...

Saturday Came and when, unfortunately I couldn't get out but on Sunday I headed out for a walk round another local lodge for an hour, there wasn't much around due to the re-frozen lake but it was still nice to get out, I took 4 more pics so I hope that you like them...

A Shore Thing.... or Not....

Well I had a day out last Friday, in hope of seeing the Shore lark that had been reported the day before, this was the fourth time that I had been out to try and see this bird, "I must see it this time, I can't be that unlucky" I thought but no, I set the alarm for some ungodly winter hour called 6 o'clock, it was pitch black but this meant that I was treated to a very special sunrise, which I took the opportunity to photograph;

On arrival, there was one other birder there looking for the Shorelark but he'd had no luck. Within 10 minuets of I came across a flock of 30+ Twite feeding between the pools on the car park, it didn't quite make up for no shore lark but it was a nice treat,

a little further along the path, I came across the same flock of Twite but this time having a bath, so I thought I'd do a bit of an experimental piece, hope you like it...

appart from these there was very little about, no sign or reports of the Lapland bunting that had apparently been seen the day before and know one had seen the Snow Buntings that were in the area but not to be put off I tried to photograph some of the easier species around the sand lakes,

Well I hope that you like the blog, something a little different,

Thanks always lee Harrison.

A kingfisher Sure As Clockwork... BullFinch...

I had a walk down to Mere Sands with my Mum and Dad tonight after we had been told from a trustworthy source that "Every night without doubt, the kingfisher comes to this spot between 5-6pm" fantastic we though another opportunity to photograph this beautiful bird. So we went down and sat there from 5 O'clock till just gone 6 and nothing, a bullfinch made its usual appearance at 5:30 with With Long Tailed tit and Herons dropping in from time to time but defiantly no Kingfisher...

Even though we didn't get the desired quarry, I managed to get a few pics. on the way around so here they are:-

Rabbit

Squirrel

Canada Goose

Bull Finch

Heron

Anyway hope that you like my blog and that you will visit again,

Thanks Always Lee Harrison.
